 Winter Activities?

2/11/08 Winter is not our favorite time of year. 'No need to go into details as to why not - let's just say our favorite Winter sport is hugging the woodstove. There are a few advantages to having Winter though - it's good to have some "down time" to step back and think about last year's gardening season and what we want to do differently this year.  Let's face it, we need three months just to get through all the seed and plant catalogs that keep showing up in the mail box! One activity we do enjoy in the Winter is going to trade shows.  "New England Grows" in Boston is the big one in our area and it is always inspiring to see what new plants and products are coming our way this Spring. We brought back a bunch of glossy brochures and catalogs and ideas to bring inspiration to your garden this year. So keep an eye on this space, and stop into the shop to see what's new. Spring is coming, Really!

One more piece of advice as we begin a new season (forgive me!) - If gardening seems like too much work and you don't look forward to the activity - DON'T DO IT! Strange advice coming from your local nursery and greenhouse, but life is too short. Do what makes you happy.

You will notice at the top of this page we are trying to entice you on to our email newsletter list. With the cost of conventional mail going up all the time we are trying to do as much as we can electronically. We will maintain our snail-mail list for those of you who prefer not to get your mail on line. We are just trying to save $$ wherever we can to keep costs and prices reasonable.

The "Greenhouse and Shop" pages will give you a general idea of the plants and products we have in stock and what's looking particularly nice right now.

So, look around, make yourself at home, then come and visit us at the shop. After all, it's hard to smell the flowers through the computer screen!
